My number one goal when trying to find a skateboard for my 7 year daughter was to find a quality board that would suite both a complete novice and experienced rider. Frankly, I was blown away by the quality of the board and customer service we received. First, this is a REAL skateboard. This is not a skateboard like you'd find at a discount store (Target, etc). Everything about this board is quality! Great quality deck and a great size for my daughter. Surprisingly smooth bearings and wheels - They are a perfect match for the deck. And, great trucks with adjusted with just the right amount of tightness for a novice. I could not have been happier with my purchase. Can't wait to pick up more boards in the future for me other kids.

My daughter has been begging to learn to skateboard for the last couple of years. I told her she had to wait until she turned 5 (mean ER nurse mom). We ordered her the beginner complete deck (and protective gear...of course) and are thrilled with our decision. Perfectly tuned for a beginner and she absolutely loves the unicorn design and the fact that it is personalized. The customer service at Skate XS was phenomenal. We bought my daughter a Unicorn Beginner Skateboard for Christmas, and she is absolutely thrilled with it! Unlike most of the junk you see on Amazon or in big-box stores, this board is a legitimate, high-quality piece of gear. It is not a toy. It is a shrunken down version of what you see under the teenagers flying around the skate park. The artwork and colors on the deck are incredibly vivid and intense, and totally wowed my 7-year old daughter and her friends. The trucks and wheels seem to be of good quality, and the bearings spin forever when you zing a wheel. We tried it out on a couple driveways and roads, and the board rolls great. My daughter didn't have any trouble controlling it, even though she's never ridden one before. She was on her way only a few minutes after watching the helpful Skate XS starter videos. Transitioning from this board to a larger version would be an extremely natural progression, as it's just a smaller version of the real deal. If you think your child has any possibility of progressing beyond messing around once in a while, this is the perfect training tool. While the price was higher than some competing options, so is the quality and value. You get far more for your money, and it's not a piece of disposable junk. As soon as the board came out of the box I knew I had made a smart choice. It's so much nicer than the Nash board I rode as a kid, and I would have done naughty things to get my hands on one of these back then! ;) We also bought my girl a complete pad set and new helmet, which were also extremely nice and work well. Before this purchase I called and talked with Bryan for a bit to ensure I was choosing the proper sizes and products. He was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, and it was obvious that he is passionate about his business. Being involved with a small business myself, it was a real treat to see a like-minded individual's approach in a different industry. Overall it was an excellent purchase experience, and I'm looking forward to the smiles my daughter's new gear produces in the coming years. We'll definitely be back if she continues with the sport.
