Kids Skateboard Size & Chart
How to Pick the Right Size Skateboard for Your Child
Choosing the right skateboard size doesn’t need to be confusing. This quick guide shows you exactly what deck size we recommend based on your child’s age — no guesswork required.
How SkateXS Sizes Kids’ Skateboards
When teens and adults shop for skateboards, they choose based almost exclusively on deck width — typically between 8” and 9” — depending on their size, skating style and personal preference. But for kids, height and body proportions vary so much that deck length becomes the most important factor for proper stance and foot positioning on the board.
At SkateXS, we build our boards by choosing the right length first, then pairing it with a appropriate width — so each board fits a child’s skating stance more naturally. Our sizing chart uses age as a simple starting point, but it also includes average height and weight to help guide parents with taller or smaller kids.
The SkateXS Size Chart for Kids
Our sizing is based on thousands of boards built for real kids ages 5–12. Use the chart below to find the perfect fit.

Quick Sizing Recommendations by Age
- Ages 5–7: 28" deck (7.0" width) — our smallest size, ideal for little riders starting out
- Ages 8–10: 29" deck (7.25" width) — our most common size, perfect for most kids this age
- Ages 11–12: 30" deck (7.4" width) — sized for preteens approaching teen height
- Teens 13+: 31" deck (7.75" width) — available on request for taller skaters
What If My Child Is Between Sizes?
- We always recomend just moving to the next size up.
- Worried about outgrowing? Moving up one size is fine — we just don't encourage jumping two sizes.
- Athletic kid? Don’t size up. A board that fits their body helps them skate better.
Why Size Matters (Without the Overload)
- Proper stance = more balance and confidence
- Smaller boards = easier control for smaller bodies
- Right size = more fun, faster learning
All SkateXS Kids Skateboards are designed specifically for younger, lighter riders — so your child feels confident from their very first push.
